Upon returning to his home in Fulham, George was somewhat taken aback to discover that his wife Annie (Pat Ashton) had spent the past three years shacking up with his best friend and partner in crime, Stan (John Thaw). Adopting a surprisingly philosophical stance, George allowed Stan to remain in his home, leading to a hilarious menage a trois. Debuting June 1, 1974 over ITV's London Weekend Television service, Thick As Thieves rolled along for eight episodes before costar John Thaw bolted to star in the detective series The Sweeney, whereupon writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais resumed their customary duties on another prison-based sitcom, Porridge Episode Information: Episode 1 - The Home Coming Aired: 1st June 1974 George Dobbs gets out of prison a day early, suprising his wife, Annie, with his old partner-in-crime, Stanley. Annie sends the men to the local pub to sort things out. Episode 2 - Happy Release Aired: 8th June 1974 Even with Stan's back injury in doubt, Annie refuses to make him leave. In despair, George soon makes good on his threat to jump in the river. Episode 3 - Good Conduct Aired: 15th June 1974 Annie joins George as he basks in his sudden fame and respectability. Left out, Stan raises the suspicion of Sergeant Black, and George unknowinly helps Stan by insisting on the letter of the law. Episode 4 - Two Men In My Life Aired: 22nd June 1974 Annie gets fed up with looking after two lazy men and leaves them for a few days of rest in teh contry. By the time she returns, she's got three men on her hands. Episode 5 - The Trouble With Tommy Aired: 29th June 1974 When Annie threatens to leave if Tommy doesn't, George and Stan conspire to find a way to gently oust the big-time crook-on-the-lam. Before they can pull it off, the police come calling. Watch for Trevor Peacock (stuttering Jim Trott from The Vicar Of Dibley) in the role as Tommy. Episode 6 - Two Into Three Won't Go Aired: 6th July 1974 Furious when he learns that Annie and Stan plan to take a winter holiday in Spain that they planned before his release, George retaliates by planning a trip with Annie's friend Daphne. Episode 7 - Home & Away Aired: 13th July 1974 While Annie's away, George and Stan slip eagerly into their old bachelor habits and take up with Yvonne and Brenda. Nevertheless, when Annie decides to stay on in Spain with a new man, they are stunned. Episode 8 - Holy Deadlock Aired: 20th July 1974 Annie has had it with her two men who seem incapable of either working or pulling off a decent heist. they each redouble their efforts to make it big and carry Annie off to a life of leisure.
